Longreach Wedding | Wellshot Hotel, Ilfracombe

Erica and Doug’s wedding at the Wellshot Hotel in Ilfracombe, near Longreach, brought me west for a day that felt very much like them. I always enjoy photographing weddings out that way—the welcoming people, wide-open skies and places with plenty of character.

Erica and Doug chose a very special venue for their big day: the Wellshot Hotel, where they had their very first date. What a perfect (and unique!) place to say “I do.” It’s not every day you get to shoot a wedding at a country pub with so much character.

The day began in Barcaldine, where I joined Erica and the girls at Meraki Hair and Beauty for hair and makeup. From there, I headed back to Ilfracombe for a few getting-ready photographs with Doug and the boys before the ceremony.

A wedding at the Wellshot Hotel

Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Wellshot, and the beer garden made such a great setting for the festivities. We took a short stroll down the street to the gardens for family photos, then found a few beautiful spots nearby for portraits. As the sun started to dip, we jumped in the car for a quick drive out of town to chase that gorgeous golden light.

One last stop at the dump

And yes—we even made a final stop at the dump! Doug’s favourite spot for treasure hunting, and honestly, it made for some super cute and quirky photos….and why not!!

Congratulations, Doug and Erica! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and laughter. Thank you for being so relaxed, fun, and up for anything—it was such a joy to be part of your day!
