I believe a beautiful portrait should be more than just a flattering photograph. It should have personality, feeling and a little something that makes you want to look at it again.
I don't see posing as old-fashioned. Done well, it helps people look and feel their best. I love beautiful light, thoughtful composition and knowing when to give direction and when to step back. There's room for elegance, laughter and the moments that happen in between.
My approach changes depending on who's in front of my camera. Family portraits are interactive, full of life and genuine emotion. Maternity sessions lean towards fine art, with an emphasis on shape, light and femininity, while formal portraits have a more fashion-inspired, editorial feel.
