Gemma’s Maternity Photography Session Near Emerald
A little while ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Gemma for a maternity session here on our property near Comet. I offer maternity photography in Emerald, Blackwater and throughout Central Queensland, and it’s always lovely when I get to use some of the beautiful spots we have right here at home.
Our garden is slowly starting to come into its own, and this was the first time I’d used it for portraits. The bougainvillea was flowering beautifully, adding a lovely pop of colour, and the afternoon light was just what I’d hoped for.
I love finding little pockets of light around the property and seeing how different locations photograph. Sometimes a spot I’ve walked past a hundred times turns out to be the perfect backdrop.
What made this session particularly special was that Gemma had never had professional photographs taken before.
She hadn’t originally planned to book a maternity session, but a good friend encouraged her to do it. I’m so glad he did!
It’s quite common for people to feel a little unsure about being photographed, particularly when it’s something they haven’t done before. I always offer direction throughout a session, from finding flattering light to helping with posing, so there’s no expectation that you need to know what you’re doing.
Gemma looked absolutely beautiful, and I was so pleased with the portraits we created together.
After sharing some of Gemma’s images, I received such lovely messages about the photographs.
It’s always rewarding to hear that people have connected with my work, particularly when it’s a session that meant a lot to the person being photographed.
Thank you, Gemma, for trusting me with your maternity portraits. I’m so glad you decided to have them taken.
You can also watch a little of what went on during our session in this behind-the-scenes video.
I photograph maternity sessions for families from Emerald, Blackwater, Comet and throughout the Central Highlands.
My property offers a private setting with beautiful natural surroundings, and I’ll guide you through the session to create portraits that are flattering, thoughtfully composed and personal to you.
If you’re considering maternity photographs of your own, you’re welcome to get in touch. I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
Since this session, I’ve also had the pleasure of photographing Gemma and Mark again, this time with their beautiful baby boy. You can see their family photographs here.
