One of the lovely things about family photography in Blackwater and the surrounding Central Highlands is getting to see families again as their lives change. I photographed Gemma’s maternity session not long ago, so it was wonderful to have her and Mark back in front of my camera, this time with their new baby boy.
There’s something special about photographing a couple before their baby arrives and then seeing them again as a family of three.
Their little boy was incredibly happy and content throughout the session, making my job very easy! We photographed the three of them together, along with some beautiful portraits of their baby on his own.
I love creating a mixture of carefully composed family portraits and those smaller interactions that happen along the way. Both are important, particularly during these early months when babies seem to change almost overnight.
We photographed Gemma and Mark’s session on our rural property near Comet, surrounded by native scrub and beautiful afternoon light filtering through the trees.
It’s a setting I particularly enjoy photographing in. The trees provide lovely pockets of light, and the natural surroundings make a beautiful backdrop without taking attention away from the people in the photographs.
Gemma and Mark live in Blackwater, not far from us, so it was an easy trip for their session.
I photograph families from Blackwater, Emerald, Comet and throughout the Central Highlands, both on location and at family properties.
Whether it’s welcoming a new baby, updating family portraits or bringing several generations together, I enjoy creating photographs that are beautifully composed while still reflecting the people in them.
If you’re considering a family photography session, you’re welcome to get in touch. I’d love to hear what you have in mind.rive from my home, and I regularly photograph families from Blackwater, Emerald, and across Central Queensland. Working locally allows sessions to feel calm and unhurried, particularly for families with young babies.
